Over the last couple of weeks, CIDI 99.1 FM had the chance to sit down with the Brome-Missisquoi candidates that ran in this year’s Quebec provincial election. They had the opportunity to speak on their political platform and the issues they planned to address in the region and at the provincial level.

Bolton-Est Fall Exhibition
The municipality of Bolton-Est is seeing a new fall exhibition titled “La fôret appalachienne sous toutes ses branches” presented by the Bolton-Est cultural committee.
The exhibition is running under the theme la sauvegarde de notre patrimoine forestier (“preserving our forest heritage”) and invites the public to discover artisans that use nature as a part of their craft.
Knowlton Literary Festival
The Knowlton Literary Festival is back for its 12th edition with a fully in-person event running from October 20 to 24 at the community centre in Knowlton.
It’s the first time the festival is taking place in-person since the start of the pandemic, having switched to virtual mode during the last couple of years.
This year’s festival will be a mix of local and national authors, meet and greets, a poetry workshop, and more.
Musée Lac-Brome Museum
Musée Lac-Brome Museum is holding its annual antique sale and craft market this Sunday, September 18 with funds raised going towards its operations.
The event has taken place since 1997 and it marks the perfect time for antique lovers to find hidden treasures, to discover the museum, and the history of the former Brome County.
Appalachian Corridor
Non-profit conservation organization Appalachian Corridor has two big announcements. At a press conference held on September 12, the group presented its proposed “Highway 10 Ecological Connectivity Plan.”
The idea behind the plan is to encourage infrastructures that will improve wildlife crossings and restore ecological connectivity between Granby and Mont-Orford.
The Well
Two Knowlton entrepreneurs want to see the community put their well-being first with new business venture The Well. Jamie Moar and Valerie Vincent have joined forces to offer different forms of yoga classes, wellness, and workshops to bring the community together, and to connect and ground with oneself.
Light Pollution
The Town of Sutton has launched an action plan to address light pollution. In 2013, town council adopted by-law 233 entitled “By-law concerning exterior lighting” that outlined different measures that residents were expected to follow. The by-law was implemented following various complaints submitted to the town.
Almost ten years after being implemented, mayor for Sutton Robert Benoît said that the by-law has not been well enforced over the years
Boulangerie Panissimo
Boulangerie Panissimo has held a space in Knowlton’s downtown core, and in the hearts of locals, since 1995. Marie-Josée Rousseau took over the bakery from its previous owner almost ten years ago after creating a connection with the village. Originally only baking fresh bread, she expanded Boulangerie Panissimo’s offerings with quiche, pastries, pies, and niche products made by local artisans.
Since embarking on her spontaneous adventure almost a decade ago, Rousseau has decided to close the doors to the beloved bakery after experiencing life changes and challenges in finding staff. She officially closes up shop on September 11 and hopes the community will come in for one last round of friendly conversation.
Maison des générations - Olivet House
Work on the Maison des générations - Olivet House project, spearheaded by the Sutton Volunteer Centre (CAB Sutton), has officially begun. Maison des générations - Olivet House is a social project with the aim of creating a community hub for all residents in Sutton and Abercorn through activities that are particularly organized around food.
The project involves transforming Olivet Church, which dates back to 1845. CAB Sutton purchased the Olivet Church a couple of years ago from its former parish for $1 after numbers started to dwindle
Brome-Missisquoi- Perkins Hospital Foundation
The Brome-Missisquoi Perkins Foundation (BMP Foundation) recently held its Annual General Meeting where various fundraising campaigns, projects, and investments were highlighted for 2021-2022. The BMP Foundation is a non-profit organization that supports the region’s Brome-Missisquoi Perkins Hospital (BMP Hospital) by investing in top quality equipment and carrying out projects that help improve the health care services provided and that support the needs of the hospital.
Vandalism in Sutton
Over the last month, the Town of Sutton has experienced a number of instances of vandalism that has touched most of the village, including Parc Goyette-Hill, the natural spring site, and commercial buildings.
