Ultramarathon runner Anne-Lise Nadeau, who is serving as the ambassador for this year’s Bromont Ultra event, has returned from a 12-day trip to Ukraine where she took part in a marathon to raise money in support of humanitarian organization ReliefAid.

In an interview with CIDI, Nadeau said that she decided to take on Bromont Ultra’s challenge to run a marathon in Irpin, a village just outside of Kyiv, from Aug. 25 to Sept. 5 to raise $50,000 for ReliefAid for the reconstruction of homes destroyed by war in Ukraine.

Nadeau emphasized that taking part in the marathon was a way for the running community in Quebec to show their solidarity with the Ukrainian population and the importance of helping “not only the brother or neighbour next to you, but also everywhere else in the world.”
