The Municipality of the Township of Potton has launched a new interactive fitness circuit as a part of its continuous develop of Missisquoi North Park, André-Gagnon Sector.

According to Valérie Thérien, Communications director for the municipality, the fitness circuit emerged out of a previous project that was financially supported by the Conseil Sport Loisir de l’Estrie that saw the installation of old chairlift benches at the park from Owl’s Head to make its walking trail more accessible.

The goal with the fitness circuit, which consists of six different exercise stations, is to create an opportunity for citizen’s to get physically active by using these existing benches to do a workout without additional equipment, noted Thérien.

The idea for the fitness circuit was sparked by Potton’s Recreation and Leisure Manager Monique Gilbert, and was created in collaboration with volunteer members of the Potton Parks and Recreation Committee and graphic designer Gabriel Sherrer.

CIDI spoke with Thérien and Potton Mayor Bruno Côté about the fitness circuit and how the municipality is developing opportunities for physical activity.
