l'Association des parcs régionaux du Québec (Parq) has launched a new initiative known as “Accès nature” to provide Quebecers with free-daily access to some regional parks across the province.

Accès nature was recently launched by Parq after the group received $800,000 in financial support from the provincial government to develop the project. The new initiative is all about “making nature more accessible to the people of Quebec and to also encourage engagement in outdoor physical activities,” said Valérie Bélanger, communications manager at Parq.

According to Bélanger, there are about 30 regional parks in 10 different regions across Quebec, including in the Eastern Townships, that are participating in Accès nature so far and more are expected to join the initiative as it continues to roll out over the next few weeks.

CIDI spoke with Bélanger and Minister of Sports, Recreation, and the Outdoors and MNA for Brome-Missisquoi Isabelle Charest to get more details about Accès nature and how it will benefit the Quebec population.
