The Town of Brome Lake has been informed by the CIUSSS de l'Estrie CHUS that the re-opening of the CLSC in Knowlton is now postponed until at least mid-October.

According to Town of Brome Lake Mayor Richard Burcombe, the CLSC in Knowlton was originally closed in June for a three-month period and it was expected to re-open on Sept. 9. He added that the municipality was informed on Sept. 6 by the local health authority that the CLSC would remain closed until October with the reasoning put down to issues with staffing shortages.

Burcombe noted that the CLSC in Knowlton provides various services to the Brome Lake population and to people from its surrounding areas, such as blood tests, follow-ups on medical procedures, the changing of bandages, and more.

As a result of the closure, people have find a way to travel to other local service points in Cowansville or Sutton, said Burcombe, which has created challenges around accessing these important healthcare services, especially for the senior population.
