Long-awaited water infrastructure project in Brigham close to completion

A water infrastructure project in the Guay sector of Brigham is close to completion after the provincial government allocated $1.4 million dollars in financial support to the municipality through the Programme d’infrastructures municipales d’eau (PRIMEAU) 2023. 

According to Mayor Steven Neil, the project is something that the municipality has been trying to get off the ground for over a decade. The project involves the installation of a drinking water treatment system in order to distribute high-quality water to the 22 existing homes in the Guay sector, a development in Brigham that has been under a boiling water advisory since 2006, noted Neil. 

Neil said that the municipality started working on the project this spring in order to bring the water infrastructure up to code with government regulations, and 1,400 meters of water piping, a small water treatment centre, and a generator has already been installed.
