The Knowlton Academy (K.A.) Garden Committee held its first meeting of the year alongside members of the local community last week to discuss the future vision for the K.A. Educational Garden.

Heidi Neil, one of the coordinators behind the garden project, explained in an interview with CIDI that the K.A. Educational Garden has evolved  to become fully “child-centred” and it has grown to play a significant role in the student’s educational experience at K.A.

Looking to make the K.A. Educational Garden more sustainable and to develop more opportunities for learning, Neil noted that collaborating with people in the community, such as the Lac-Brome Men’s Shed and representatives from the Town of Brome Lake, are now key for the development of the K.A. Educational Garden.

CIDI interviewed Neil, K.A. Educational Garden Coordinator Matthew Quesnelle, K.A. students Ava and Will, and potential community collaborators Robert Elhen from the Lac-Brome Men’s Shed’s and Community Life Coordinator for the Town of Brome Lake Claire Citeau.
