To mark the Nuit des sans-abri - a province-wide event that takes place on the third Friday in October to raise awareness around homelessness, poverty and social exclusion in Quebec - Cellule Jeunes et Famille de Brome-Missisquoi welcomed MP for Brome-Missisquoi and Minister of Canadian Heritage Pascale St-Onge to the organization for a discussion around the social issues that are affecting people financially on the territory and what needs to be done at the government level to address the higher costs of living.

CIDI was invited to Cellule Jeunes et Famille de Brome-Missisquoi on Oct. 18 where we spoke with Jean-Philippe Ouellette, project coordinator for the food bank at the Cellule and the CAB of Cowansville, and Annie Boulanger, coordinator of the Cellule, to learn more about the realities that vulnerable people are facing in Brome-Missisquoi.

We also spoke with Minister St-Onge about how the federal government is working with the Canadian provinces to ensure that money is invested in helping bring more financial stability to people currently living in poverty.
