Sûreté du Québec raises awareness around telephone fraud in Brome-Missisquoi, asks population to remain vigilant

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is raising awareness in Brome-Missisquoi around the different types of telephone fraud and they are asking the population to remain alert as these scams become more common.
Louis-Philippe Ruel, spokesperson for the SQ in the Eastern Townships, explained in an interview with CIDI that telephone fraud - and other forms of communication such as email and text message - is a growing concern in Quebec and across Canada.
Ruel noted that people conducting these types of scams are becoming “very good at their jobs,” which is why the SQ wants to ensure that citizen’s have access to the information they need to make the right decisions for themselves.
