Sutton has completed its first urban mural called “Le Spot” as a part of the municipality’s cultural mediation project known as LE MUR | THE WALL. 

CIDI journalist Taylor McClure had the chance to attend the official launch of Sutton’s urban mural last week at Goyette Hill Park where she got all the details on the project and the role that cultural mediation plays in communities.

Cultural mediation is an opportunity for citizens of all ages to participate in a collective artistic experience and to express their creativity with the help of a  professional artist, according to Marie-Claude Plasse, cultural officer for the Town of Sutton.

For the first ever edition of LE MUR | THE WALL, Montreal-based mural artist Boris Biberzic collaborated with youth from the Maison des jeunes de Sutton (MDJ de Sutton) - Le Spot. Together, they created a mural that honours the memory of former MJD de Sutton director Gwen Badham. The piece is also meant to reflect the identity of the MDJ de Sutton.
