The Conseil de la culture de l’Estrie has launched its first financing campaign for its pilot project “Impact Culture,” which will support four organizations in the Eastern Townships that want to create opportunities for arts and culture in their communities.

According to Isabelle Gaulin, philanthropic development project manager for the Pôle culturel régional with the Conseil, the goal with Impact Culture is to make private funding accessible to organizations that want to develop projects around arts and culture in the region.

Gaulin noted that public funding for cultural organizations is not always sufficient and these groups are often left struggling “to finance their projects,” which is why the Conseil needed to find a solution to help these organizations bring their visions to life.

CIDI spoke with Gaulin to get more details about the fundraising campaign and Mathieu Gaudet, president of  Sylva Camerata Chamber Orchestra - a non-profit organization in Brome-Missisquoi that is participating in the Impact Culture program this year.
