The Knowlton Pub raised $8,600 for the Lac-Brome emergency food bank following its annual fundraiser on Dec. 9.

For over a decade, the Knowlton Pub has organized a Christmas meal to raise funds in support of community members facing food insecurity.

CIDI spoke with Gary Crandall, volunteer with the Lac-Brome food bank, about how the Knowlton Pub’s donation will support the food bank during a time where it is witnessing an increase in requests from the population.

According to Crandall, the Knowlton Pub’s donation, combined with the other donations it has received, will help “us tremendously to buy food for the rest of the year.”

He said that many people are laid off from their jobs in the winter and they depend on the food bank, which provides other essential items such as toothbrushes.
