Following a gold medal win at the World Rowing Cup II, the Hong Kong National Rowing Team has come to Knowlton to train for the upcoming 2024 World Rowing Championships in St. Catherines, Ontario.

For over a week, the Hong Kong National Rowing Team has been training out of the  Knowlton Rowing Club at Douglas Beach as athletes take advantage of the variable weather conditions on Lake Brome.

Senior Coach Huang Zhongming explained to CIDI that the mix of calm waters and rough and windy conditions on Lake Brome allows athletes to experience long distance training and high-intensity short distance training, which helps them prepare for the different challenges they may face on the water.

The team is hosted by local resident and professional rowing coach Gavin McKay, whom hopes to see Knowlton continue to embrace rowing and support those that want to establish themselves in the sport.
