The Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network (QAHN) and the Townshippers’ Association – two community groups that serve the English-speaking communities in the Eastern Townships – have received a boost in core funding from the federal government.

Over the next two years, QAHN will be receiving just under $44,000 and the Townshippers’ Association will benefit from an additional $68,400.

According to Matthew Farfan, executive director of QAHN, and Don Warnholtz, president of Townshippers’ Association, core funding gives community groups a “solid base” to maintain its existing services, while opening up the doors for more growth.

For QAHN, the funding will allow the group to address challenges with inflation and invest in its regular programming, including its Heritage Talks series, noted Farfan.

The Townshippers’ Association wants to invest in the recruitment and retention of staff in order to maintain quality services for the population of the Eastern Townships, mentioned Warnholtz.
