There is an exhibition of works by Ceramists and Sculptors from Brome-Missisquoi until Sunday, October 27, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays in Galerie Hors-Cadre at 320 Knowlton Road in Knowlton. Avante Women’s Centre invites all women to a Soup Café on Thursday, October 17 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Centre at 15 du Pont in Bedford. Come and enjoy a bowl of soup with the Avante team. OCTOBER 17 TO 20

The 2019 edition of the Knowlton Literary Festival takes place from Thursday, October 17 until Sunday, October 20 at various venues in Knowlton. Featured writers include Barry Estabrook, Sheree Fitch, Ann-Marie MacDonald, K. D. Miller, Louise Penny, Shelagh Rogers, Kim Thúy and Guy Vanderhaeghe. The Festival opens with a free wine and cheese event hosted by Mary Harvey and featuring regional poets who will be on hand to read from their work on Thursday, October 17 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the new lobby of Theatre Lac-Brome at 9 Mont Echo Road in Knowlton. Theatre Lac-Brome presents perennial Quebec favourite Dan Bigras in concert on Friday, October 18 at 8:00 p.m. in the Theatre at 9 Mont Echo Road in Knowlton. Bigras has recently published an autobiography and released a compilation album summing up his 25-year career, so in this show he performs both his book and his songs. Tickets are $42. There is a Rug Hooking Exhibition on Saturday, October 19 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Dépanneur Rouge at 483 Knowlton Road in Knowlton.

There is a Barbecue to benefit Mansonville Baptist Church on Saturday, October 19 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Mansonville Elementary School at 308 Principale in Mansonville. The cost is $15 for adults, $6 for children 6 to 12 and free for kids under 6. Everyone is welcome.

The show is written by Stephen Paglia and directed by Linda Carey. There is a Pre-Christmas Craft Sale featuring 20 artisans on Saturday, October 26 at Emmanuel United Church in Cowansville. There will be handicrafts, home baking, jams, jellies, pickles, Christmas decorations, attic treasures and more. A light lunch will be served for $7. Come and beat the Christmas rush.

There is a Harvest Soup Luncheon sponsored by the Fulford Community Club on Saturday, October 26 in the Fulford Hall in Fulford. Home-made soups and pies will be served with rolls and beverage.
