JUNE 15
The Yamaska Valley Optimist Club is holding its annual Garage Sale to benefit the BMP Foundation’s Cancer Walk on Saturday, June 15 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Knowlton United Church at 234 Knowlton Road. The Alzheimer’s Society’s Walk for Alzheimer’s in Cowansville takes place on Saturday, June 15 with reception starting at 8:15 a.m. and the walk at 9:30 a.m. at the Cowansville Nature Centre. Following the walk participants are invited to stay for the Beach Party event. Registration is $$15 for adults and free for children under 16 at www.lamarchepourlalzheimer.ca or on-site the morning of the walk. Knowlton Players is hosting a voice workshop on the Alexander Technique with teacher Trish Baillie on Saturday, June 15 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Odd Fellows Hall at 476 Knowlton Road. The Town of Brome Lake Fête Nationale Soap Box Derby takes place on June 24. The deadline for registration is June 15. Participants must be 7 to 13 years of age and the number of participants is limited to 16. JUNE 15 & 16
The Tour du Lac Brome takes place on Saturday and Sunday, June 15 and 16. This annual foot racing event has taken place in the Town of Brome Lake for the past 41 years and attracts several thousand runners from across the province. Saturday circuits include a 2 kilometer, 4.5 kilometer and 9 kilometer trail routes and a 5 kilometer and 22.2 kilometer road route. JUNE 16
You are invited to Breakfast at the Cowansville Royal Canadian Legion on Sunday, June 16 from 9:00 .a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the hall at 120 Davignon in Cowansville. Theatre Lac-Brome presents the Brome Lake Chamber Music Festival beginning on Sunday, June 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Theatre at 9 Mont Echo Road in Knowlton. This Symphonic Evening features Artistic Director Ludovic Sémerjian and pianist Stewart Grant, who is maestro of Sinfonia de l’Ouest. Tickets ate $25. St. James Anglican Church in Foster invites you to a special Father’s Day Hymn Sing on Sunday, June 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the little church on the hill at 725 Lakeside in Foster. The Brome-Missisquoi Perkins Hospital Foundation announces the 32nd edition of the La Classique BMP golf and gourmet fund-raising event on Wednesday, June 19 at the Cowansville Golf Club. Participants will be welcomed from 10:00 a.m. with hot coffee and a breakfast snack. Activities start at 11:30 a.m. Guests can choose to register for a golf foursome or one of 2 guided bicycle tours. JUNE 22

Here are a few events coming up next week. The Fulford Community Club’s Strawberry Social and Duck Race take place on Saturday, June 22 at the Fulford Hall in Fulford. There will be hot dogs, strawberries and whipped cream served on homemade biscuits, a bake table, music, outdoor games and raffles. Tickets for the Duck Race are $10 with proceeds going to the Missing Children’s Network. For information call Carla at 450-539-2982. 

JUNE 22 & 23
The Brome County Historical Society is hosting a children’s workshop on ceintures fléchées on Saturday and Sunday, June 22 and 23 at the Society’s Centennial Building in Knowlton. Children are invited to participate in the ceintures fléchées workshop during which they will discover the history of this symbol of francophone culture and practice weaving their own miniature belts. The Brome County Historical Society is holding an Antiques Market on Sunday, June 23 on the museum grounds in Knowlton. There is a Celtic Summer Solstice Celebration Worship service on Sunday, June 23 at Knowlton United Church. Everyone in the community is welcome to join in for this special outdoor service followed by a potluck lunch. And we’ll have more on next week’s events in the next Thursday update.

On the first Thursday of each month, fill a bag for $7. They accept clean articles in good condition, including clothing, boots, shoes, toys, bedding, dishes and small appliances. Please do not bring skis, furniture or large appliances. 
PRRP Abercorn is open every Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on the first Saturday of every month from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 11 Church Street West in Abercorn across from the town hall. Le Petit Marché Fermier de Dunham is open Fridays from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. from June 21 until September 6 at 3650 Principale in Dunham.
